Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has hinted Arsenal target Marco Reus will be granted permission to leave the club in the summer.
The Germany international has reportedly been identified by Arsene Wenger as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, should the Chile star, as widely expected, depart during the close season.
The former Barcelona forward’s talks over a new contract have stalled in recent months, coinciding with a run of form which has seen the north London club drop out of the title race and suffer a Champions League thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Should Sanchez seek a move, Arsenal are believed to be willing to pay £51 million to land the Dortmund star, who has struggled badly with injury in recent times, at the end of the season.
And Watzke fueled speculation, telling ruhrnachrichten.de: ‘We have lot of players, especially up front, something can happen there’
Dortmund are also fighting to keep hold of star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has spoken openly of his desire to complete a dream move to Real Madrid, while manager Thomas Thuchel has been mentioned as a possible candidate to succeed Wenger.
