With Nacho Monreal already 30 and Kieran Gibbs looking like he will leave the club this summer in search of regular playing time, Arsenal needs to sign another left back. And according to reports, Lille defender Djibril Sidibe is keen on joining North London club Arsenal after the club contacted him but an official offer is yet to be made.
Earlier in the week, it was widely reported that French side AS Monaco had agreed a fee of £13million euros for Sidibe it has since been complicated by Arsenal entering the race for his services.
The Gunners are believed to have discussed with the left-back to agree on personal terms but his French side Lille are yet to receive an official enquiry from Arsenal.
Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger is believed to have made the signing of Sidibe on of his priority and Sidibe looks to be interested in a move to North London, rather than French side Monaco.
Should the Gunners eventually sign Sidibe, it could spell the end for defender Kieran Gibbs at the Emirate club after he slipped down the pecking order behind Nacho Monreal last season. England international Kieran Gibbs has recently been linked with a move to Premier league rivals Liverpool.
The 23-year-old made 42 appearances for his French teame last season and his impressive form earned him a call-up to the provisional France squad as a standby player for Euro 2016.
