Arsenal have been weakened in recent years by players who have decided to leave following contractual disputes which were not resolved.
However, the club appears to have changed its policy and there were more signs of that earlier this month as Olivier Giroud put pen to paper on a new deal.
According to the Frenchman who cost Arsenal €12.4 million in his move from Montpellier in 2012, the decision to extend his contract at the Emirates stadium was one he took with joy.
“Happy and proud. For me, it is the continuity of a work of several years. I’m very happy with everything I’ve accomplished in this club, but I still want to make progress.” Giroud responded when asked about how he felt after signing his new deal in an interview with Planète Foot as quoted by Daily Cannon
Even so, the 30-year-old has admitted that he is still unsure of whether he will hang up his boots as a footballer at Arsenal.
“Finish my career here? There would be worse things. At the end of my contract, I will be 33 years old. I do not think about it yet. As long as my body leaves me alone …” he added
“To be honest, I did not see myself signing anywhere else. I long had this desire to prolong. The fact that it happened at the same time as Kos’ and Francis was both very nice and revealing. Because I hope others will follow us again.
“I like this club, I like the Premier League. It was the best decision for me.”
