Arsene Wenger has received most of the flaks for Arsenal inadequacies in the summer transfer market thus far, but the Gunners boss is not the only one to hold responsible for his side’s lack of transfer activity.
Arsenal’s failure in the market has made fans grow furious and disappointed. The Gunners were expected to build on the signing of Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka with the addition of more top notch players, but they have only been able to bring in the budding Rob Holding and Takuma Asano – who can not even play in the Premier League for failure to secure a work permit.
Meanwhile, French news outlet Get French Football News have reported that Arsenal are trying to sign Atletico Madrid whizz Antoine Griezmann. Wenger is said to be keenly interested in the France international who linked up well with Olivier Giroud in the European Championships. But Griezmann’s release clause at Atleti proved a stumbling block.
While Wenger was reportedly willing to fork up that fee, the Gunners chiefs failed to sanction the move for Griezmann, who will also be willing to move to the Emirates.
The fans have heaped all blames on Wenger, but as per reports, the Arsenal board are to blame for this.
Arsenal earned their first point in the Premier League against Leicester last weekend in a game that could have ended in a loss for the North London side, but for some dodgy refereeing decisions plus Laurent Koscielny’s efforts.
The Gunners will now be looking to travel to Vicarage Road next Saturday to collect all three points from Walter Mazzari’s Watford.
