With the transfer window under a week away from slamming shut, Arsenal search for a defender could be over soon as one of their defensive targets is willing to move to the Emirates.
Reports have claimed Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Omer Toprak is willing to ditch the Bundesliga side to play for Arsenal and, Bayer are also interested in listening to offers for the Turkey international defender.
Toprak, who has a €23m release clause, has also confirmed he could be open to a move this summer and did not rule out the possibility of leaving Bayer for a new club.
“It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, we still have a month and anything could happen until then”, Toprak was quoted as saying to Turkish Football.com on a purported move away from the Bundesliga.
Arsenal made Toprak one of their possible options, with the move for Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi reaching a deadlock and now, it appears the Gunners could settle for Toprak. The Gunners also registered an interest in Manchester United defender, Phil Jones, but boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out selling any of his players to Arsenal.
