One thing that makes Wenger stand out from other coaches like Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and their like is the fact that the French tactician keeps faith in his players, regardless of how they are performing.
We have seen player’s like Theo Walcott, Oliver Giroud and Per Mertesacker consistently play below par, yet Wenger sticks with them.
In this window, Arsenal have been linked with several attackers but I doubt Wenger realistically wants to sign them. He has Walcott, Campbell, Iwobi, Sanchez and the in-form Serge Gnabry. Knowing who he is, we may not see an attacker at the Emirates this summer.
Gnabry has been in sensational form for his national team at the Rio Olympics, having scored six goals so far in the competition to guarantee a place for his country in the final.Sky Sports quotes Arsene Wenger as saying:
“I want to keep Serge Gnabry and extend his contract. I think we stood by him. He went to West Brom, didn’t play, we had to rebuild his confidence. I allowed him to go to the Olympics to help Germany. I think he’s here now for a long time.”
Gnabry has been on the radar of Hertha Berlin, but his form at the Olympics means Wenger will offer him another contract and he will be “Just like a new a signing” in Arsenal.
