Arsenal legend Martin Keown has disagreed with manager Arsene Wenger’s decision not to play Petr Cech in goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight.
The Frenchman revealed in his pre-match press conference that David Ospina will keep his place after starting in between the sticks in all of the Gunners’ six European games so far this season.
The Colombian has also featured in both FA Cup matches, but on only eight occasions has he played for Arsenal in the current campaign.
Cech has 25 appearances, all of which were in the Premier League, under his belt but he has come under criticism of late following his howler against Chelsea, which ended in a 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Wenger’s decision to stay loyal to Ospina has caused Keown to question the manager.
The retired defender believes that Cech’s experience should nudge him ahead in the pecking order when it comes to a game of this magnitude.
