Allegri is the bookies favourite to take over at the Emirates if Wenger leaves at the end of the season and the 49-year-old has done little to dampen the speculation in recent weeks.
It looks like the Italian coach is already making plans for his arrival as the Daily Star are reporting that Allegri has made Dybala one of his key targets if he’s appointed Arsenal manager.
The Argentinean international is a key player at Juventus under Allegri with his 12 goals and 7 assists helping the club on their march towards a yet another Serie A title as well as qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
However, he’s been tipped to leave Turin at the end of the season and it looks as though Allegri would be keen to bring him to north London if he’s installed as Wenger’s replacement.
It seems the speculation over his future could be getting to the South American as former coach Gennaro Gattuso claimed recently that Dybala looks ‘frustrated’.
“Dybala’s had a different expression on his face for the past four or five weeks,” Gattusso is quoted by the Star as saying
“He looks really frustrated, as if something is on his mind. He doesn’t have a happy face.
“I coached him at Palermo and everybody who knows him knows he’s a very fun-loving lad, which is why this surprises me.”
The 23-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs so we’d face stiff competition if we were to make a move for him while the Daily Star claim Juve would demand a fee in the region of £73.7m to cash-in.
I personally don’t see Arsenal agreeing to pay that kind of money but I suppose if we do end up selling Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil then we should have plenty of funds available to sign replacements.
Dybala would be one of my preferences to fill Sanchez’s boots if the Chilean does leave and I’d love Allegri to replace Arsene this summer, but it all sounds a bit too good to be true, so I won’t be getting my hopes up just yet.
